A condition for scaling up a deeptech start-up: managing the design of the creation heritage

Abstract
Deeptech start-ups develop breakthrough technologies that could address social and environmental challenges, but the conditions under which they scale up remain poorly understood. Drawing on design theories and methods, the thesis shows that during this phase these start-ups shape their « creation heritage ».
Based on three intervention research projects within deeptech start-ups, it proposes a new condition for managing scale-up and makes recommendations to public authorities to better harness the impact potential of these companies.
